Mallorca Aikido Club nace en 1989 en donde profesores locales por aquel tiempo empiezan a impartir clases en la sede de lo que todavía hoy día es el Club Chong-ma (Actual Aikido club Mallorca).
Por ese tiempo conocemos al Maestro Nuboyoshi Tamura. Su técnica y su aikido nos cautiva desde el primer momento, y decidimos seguirle. Seguir a Tamura sensei no era fácil, ya que al contrario que otros maestros el no tenía un dojo en el que impartiese clases con regularidad, sino que era el director técnico de la Federación Francesa de Budo y se dedicaba a dar cursos por toda Francia, pero aun y así empezamos a seguirle en casi todas las regiones de Francia, especialmente en el sur.
Por aquel entonces ya habíamos participado varias veces en lo que se denominaba el Summer camp de Francia (La colle sur Loupe) que junto al seminario de Lesneven en la Bretaña Francesa eran los dos seminarios de más relevancia que Tamura sensei impartía. A estos dos cursos siempre invitaba a Yamada sensei (aun hoy día Yamada sensei se cuida del curso de Lesneven).
En 1994 y después de haber participado en varios seminarios con Yamada Sensei, decidimos ampliar nuestra relación con el. En Navidades de ese mismo año nos invita a conocer su dojo en la ciudad de New York (The New York Aikikai) y pasamos dos semanas practicando bajo su supervisión, a partir de ese momento y a pesar de que jamás dejamos de considerarnos estudiantes de Tamura Sensei, decidimos unirnos a la organización de Yamada Sensei y seguirle como maestro y guía.
Los años fueron pasando y nuestras visitas a New York se hacen cada vez más frecuentes hasta un ritmo de dos y tres veces por año, y seguimos a Yamada Sensei prácticamente por todo el mundo.
En el año 2000 Sensei imparte su primer seminario en Mallorca y lo hace con cita obligada hasta el año 2013. Confirmando y consolidando así a nuestro dojo como uno de sus principales grupos en Europa.
Hoy día Yamada Sensei Lidera una organización creada por el, que se denomina Sansuikai Europa en donde están asociados 32 clubes de 15 países entre los que nos encontramos nosotros.
Así pues podemos decir que somos un dojo muy afortunado al tener a un Shihan que es uno de los grandes nombres en la historia del Aikido y a través del cual tenemos acceso y relación con el Aikikai Hombu Dojo para la promoción de grados y certificados.
